About Wim Simonse
Wim Simonse is an agribusiness developer and founder of Away4Africa, supporting companies, cooperatives, and institutions in strengthening their operations in Africa. With an MSc in Tropical Agriculture and over 25 years of professional experience, including 12 years based in Burkina Faso, he combines deep field knowledge with strategic insight. He co-founded and served as the first Director of Anatrans, a pioneering cashew processing company. His expertise spans agricultural value chains, processing industries, and supply and marketing links to European markets. Through Away4Africa (www.away4africa.nl), Wim provides consultancy in business planning, process optimization, and compliance with market, social, and environmental standards. He is also co-developer of FarmerLink and FactoryLink, innovative software solutions created under ExoLink (www.exolink.eu), which enhance traceability, monitoring, and performance for farmer organizations and SMEs across Africa. He initiated the CashewTree (www.cashewtree.eu), a platform bridging for companies compensating carbon through cashew farmers in Africa sequestrating carbon in their plantations, where he developed the concept of carbon sequestration in cashew plantations in Benin and other African countries.
